Keyring ID started as a class project at an Oriel Academy workshop in Buenos Aires in 2025, after a student sent ORL to an address with two characters swapped. The fix was a short name, like ana.orl, that the owner holds in their own wallet.
The Academy grant paid for a Spanish course on names and wallets, workshops in four Argentine cities and a guide for wallet teams that want to show names. Keyring now holds 210,000 names, and two of its students work on it full time.
