Why these two languages
Oriel Academy has taught in Spanish and Portuguese since August, but the docs students move on to are still English only. Tillpoint and Keyring ID both asked for Spanish docs this year. Round 7 also wants on-ramps in markets where many developers do not read English.
Who does the work
The work goes to two translation teams, one in Mexico City and one in São Paulo, chosen from four quotes. A developer who reads the language natively checks each page before it goes live. The teams follow the English docs, about 400 pages, in the order people read them.
How it is paid
Each language is paid in two tranches: half when the first 200 pages are live and half at the end. The update budget is paid every quarter for two years, and only for pages that changed.
