The proposal

The author asked the foundation to buy Swiss and US government bonds of under 12 months through a Swiss bank, up to 5% of the treasury. The aim was a steady return on money that sits for a year or more before it goes out as grants.

The case against

Most of the 58% who voted against made the same two points on the forum. Bonds held at a bank could not be checked on chain like every other part of the treasury. And staked ORL already earns 4.8% a year, more than short bonds were paying.

What happens next

Nothing moves. The council will publish a note on how the treasury holds its reserves with the annual report in January. The author has said a smaller version, using bonds issued on chain, may come back next year.

Budget

This proposal changes a rule and spends nothing from the treasury.
